Amakye Dede had multiple facial abrasions; likely to be discharged tomorrow – doctor

Highlife legend Amakye Dede is likely to be discharged tomorrow after being involved in a fatal accident on Friday evening in the Eastern Region.The ace musician sustained “multiple facial abrasions and lacerations”, Dr. Kofi Yeboah, medical superintendent at the HAWA Memorial Saviour Hospital at Osiem told Joy News.Amakye was able to take his breakfast today, Saturday, and is currently responding to treatment at the facility, the medical superintendent revealed.Even though the musician survived the horrible accident, his manager and longtime friend, IsaacYeboah, who was also the editor of the P&P entertainment newspaper, died on the spot. The bodyguard is also in critical condition.The vehicle was parked at the junctionThe musician was billed to perform at The Paradise, a ten-minute drive from the Bonsu Junction where the unfortunate accident occurred.Amakye was in his parked Toyota Corolla car with registration number, GE 2945 – 15 at the junction when a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter heading to Accra from Kumasi rammed into it in an attempt to avoid a taxi cab which veered into his lane.Dr. Kofi Yeboah noted that though Amakye Dede sustained injuries, they were “not deep enough to warrant surgery”. The wounds were "only cleaned and dressed", he said.Asked when he would be discharged, he replied,"it won't go beyond tomorrow".He said two people who also sustained minor injuries in the Benz bus are also responding to treatment at the hospital.Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Abass Abaah who earlier confirmed the accident to Joy News said the driver of the Benz bus has been arrested.The police have commenced investigation into the incident, he said.
